While continuing her journey of passion had progressed towards the destination of social work. Her first task was to connect the kids of Punjabi families living in New Zealand to teach Punjabi language so that they not only become capable of reciting prayers as a first step towards understanding Gurbani but also feel at ease to understand Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabi culture. She took these classes every Monday and Thursday evenings at Cambridge Primary School, Cambridge
Another, she picked Bhangra, Punjabi folk dance as her second task. Gagan with her friend Gurwinder Kaur took Bhangra classes every Tuesday evening at the Cambridge Fitness Centre where Kiwi men and women come to the gym to learn Bhangra and also benefit from it as a form of exercise. Informing these people about folk dance means making them aware about Punjabi culture. Although she provided the classes at the Fitness Centre for free, but if any amount is collected, it gave to the district Red Cross as donation. Red Cross had given a special donation box to Gagan for this purpose. Even she took performance of NZ Punjabi kids sang her poetry “Main kinj likha aapne Zazbatan nu” and Kiwi Bhangra at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Trust event of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Birthday Ceremony in 2015 and feel rewarded and proud after her success in her both concepts.
Many people must have commonly heard the speeches by girls about doing such social work on the platforms of beauty contests, but very few are able to execute it practically. This initial step by Gagan Randhawa might just be a beginning but she hoped that one day with the help of the community, she would able to open a Punjabi school for children. However, all this stopped after six months due to some circumstances.
